This creamy, delicious Cherry Berry Smoothie is a nice, pink treat for whenever you're feeling like something smooth and pretty.

It can be a refreshing pick-me-up on a hot summer afternoon or a simple, healthful treat for Valentine's Day! Free from any dairy, it's sweetness comes naturally from a banana and fruit. It's like a raspberry milkshake that's good for you!

    Smoothies

Smoothies are one of the easiest things you can make. If you have a high-speed blender that's easy to clean, even better!

The great thing about smoothies is that you can pack lots of nutritious, fresh fruits and vegetables into them. Fruits and vegetables retain their fibre in smoothies. That's important because fibre slows down the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream. This makes it better to enjoy the sweetness found naturally in whole fruits and some vegetables rather than in refined sugars. So, if you're concerned about your sugar intake, whole fruits and vegetables are the best way to go.

    Cherry Berry Smoothie Ingredients

    Banana

I used a fresh banana with frozen berries. If you have sliced, frozen banana on hand, that would also work well here.

    Cherries

Cherries add depth of flavour, sweetness, and colour.

    Berries

This smoothie has raspberries in it, but I'm sure strawberries would be good, too. If you try strawberries, let me know in the comments below how that turned out for you!

    Nondairy Milk

Use your dairy free beverage of choice. I like unsweetened coconut milk whenever I can get it.

    Sunflower Seed Butter

I'm liking sunflower seed butter a lot these days. It adds protein, magnesium, and healthy fats to your smoothie. And, it's a great alternative if you're allergic to nuts.

    Hemp Hearts

Hemp hearts, shelled hemp seeds or hemp buds, are exceptionally rich in two essential fatty acids.

    Lime

If you have a lime, throw it in! Lime adds zest to your drink and aids your digestion.
