Homemade Taco Seasoning is a great make-ahead spice mix for tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and fajitas. Try it with chicken, beef, pork, and beans. This combination of spices is complex enough to be interesting but simple enough to be easily made. By using pure spices, you can be assured that yours is gluten free.

Since there are neither grains nor sugar in this taco seasoning, it's suitable for a low-carb diet, such as the keto diet. It can also be used by paleo eaters.

What spices go into gluten free taco seasoning?

Six spices plus salt - taco seasoning simplified!

Spices are, by nature, gluten free. However, prepackaged taco mixes may contain gluten. To be sure your taco mix is gluten free, use spices that are known to be free from contamination from gluten. Spices purchases in bulk containers open to the public carry no such guarantees.

I find this combination to be just right!

  • chili powder
  • cumin
  • salt
  • paprika
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • dried oregano

Layer your spices into a jar. Stir or shake until they're all blended. Use some of your mixture right away, or save it for a quick Mexican meal later.
